Have you ever loved something so much that you let it control you?
Well, unfortunately, we serve a jealous God. He will chase you down until you are willing to lay down everything that comes above Him at His feet. Why? Let’s explore this together, shall we?

God's jealousy expresses His boundless, perfect love. He yearns for our highest devotion, not because He demands worship, but because He knows we'll only find fulfillment in Him. When we turn from idols, we open the door for Him to lavish His affections upon us. So let us heed our Father's loving jealousy by laying aside anything that competes for the devotion only He deserves.

• He alone can truly satisfy our deepest longings
• Obsessions and addictions leave us empty inside
• His "jealousy" guards us from wasted devotion
• He wants to shower us with love, not rivals
• Giving Him first place allows His love to flow freely

The love of the Father is pure and powerful

The love of our Heavenly Father is pure, powerful, and undefiled. His affection for us is not tainted by selfishness or sin like human love so often is. God's love flows from the perfect goodness of His nature. It's a love that sacrifices for our sake, a love clothed in humility yet burning with passionate intensity.

When we experience the Father's love, it has the power to transform us from the inside out. His love breaks chains of bondage, melts away hatred and unforgiveness, and awakens us to our true identity as His beloved children. No matter how far we've strayed, His powerful love relentlessly pursues us to draw us back into intimate relationship with Him. May we surrender to this perfect, all-consuming love that will never let us go.

• It melts hatred and breaks chains of bondage
• His love awakens our true identity as His beloved
• An all-consuming, passionate love that never lets go

It’s time to take it seriously

The time for passive, compartmentalized faith is over. Eternity weighs in the balance of the choices we make today. We can no longer be the lukewarm church Jesus warned against (Rev 3:16). A posture of wholehearted, unconditional surrender to God is required.

It's time to take this with the utmost urgency and treat this very moment as an altar before God. Get ruthlessly honest - what idols, obsessions or areas of life have you been holding back from His lordship? Love for God cannot be compartmentalized any longer. We must integrate Him into every area of our hearts and lives. Draw a line in the sand, and decide here and now to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Trade in half-hearted faith for the passionate, all-consuming love He deserves.

• No more casual faith - wholehearted surrender is required
• Examine yourself: What idols or obsessions still have a foothold?
• Treat this with the utmost urgency - your soul's at stake
• Make this moment an altar - give everything to God right now
• Don't delay another day - come home to the Father's embrace

Where are you with the Father?

Let’s self-examine, right now, turn wherever you are into an altar. Give it over to the Lord. Don’t let it be too late, come home.
