Biblical Freedom

What is True Freedom and How Do You Gain it?

What does it mean to be free?

The meaning behind true freedom can be many things. According to the bible;

  • John 8:36; So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

  • Deuteronomy 30:19; Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!

  • Galatians 5:1; So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law.

  • Galatians 5:13; For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

  • 2 Timothy 1:7; For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

  • Matthew 6:27; Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

  • Matthew 10:8; Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!

    Walking it out

While God has given us freedom freely, it’s up to us to accept it and truly live for Him. We have to choose daily to accept this gift to truly walk in it. What does that look like?

  • Finding happiness in the small things

  • enjoying life

  • Seeing things as God does

  • Seeing God in everything

  • Living without fear

  • living without worry

Accepting the Simple Truth

The truth behind freedom is, it’s a gift that only we can receive for ourselves. He has given it to us FREELY!! If something is a gift, all we need to is receive it and it is ours, no work involved! Otherwise, it’s like saying what He did on the cross was for nothing, and that’s not true, right??
